Fire Causes Extensive Damage to DE Beach House

Bethany Beach firefighters arrived to find a large beachfront home engulfed in flames, and the damage was estimated at around $2 million.

Nov. 8—Twelve people were able to escape unharmed after an oceanfront home in Bethany Beach caught fire Saturday night.

The blaze was reported at about 11:30 p.m. Nov. 6 in the 39000 block of Seaside Drive, part of Bethany Village. Flames were engulfing the home upon firefighters' arrival, according to the Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal.

There were no injuries reported.

Damage is estimated at over $2 million, according to Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael G. Chionchio.

The fire marshal's office is investigating to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
