Off-Duty Franklin Township, OH, Firefighter Lauded for Water Rescue
An off-duty firefighter and a civilian were honored by the Cleveland Fire Department for their quick-thinking that led to the rescue of a person from Lake Erie last year.
Franklin Township Firefighter Taner Smith and Alex Bordukh, of New Jersey, found two throwable life rings to rescue the victim from the water, according to WOIO.
Firefighters found the victim in a building being warmed.
Smith received the chief's award while Bordukh, the citizen’s award for their courageous, selfless and decisive actions, according to Cleveland Police.
