Atlanta Firefighter Burned on Neck Battling Fire

A fire erupted on the second floor of a former convenience store on Atlanta's southeast side, collapsing the roof of the vacant building and sending a firefighter to the hospital.

An Atlanta firefighter was injured battling a fire that broke out at a vacant structure late Monday.

Crews responded to the call at about 11 p.m. at a building in the city's southeast section that might have been a convenience store, WAGA-TV reports. It's not clear what sparked the flames, which is believed to have started on the second floor and collapsed the building's roof.

A firefighter was evacuated from the building after suffering burns to his neck during the call, according to WAGA. He was taken to the hospital, and no one else was injured in the incident.
