Two NY FFs Hurt in Warehouse Fire

Oceanside Fire Chief Sean Costigan said the call came in as an electrical fire.

Several firefighters were trapped briefly by debris in a recycling plat fire Thursday.

The firefighters were assisted out of the Nassau County building by a rapid intervention team who were standing by, LongIslandNews12 reported.

Two firefighters were transported for treatment of smoke inhalation and exhaustion. They will be OK.

Oceanside Fire Department Chief Sean Costigan says the call initially came in as an electrical fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Jonathan Antonelli, the warehouse manager, said he initially saw an exhaust fan go up in flames and tried to put it out after getting his workers to safety.

“I with a fire extinguisher did the best I could. My immediate boss was also helping me pull material away from the fire and after that it just got to be too much, got to be too much.”
