West Islip residents are mourning the loss of two brothers killed in a house fire early Saturday.
Kyle Dilegame, 16, and Matthew Kreamer, 24, perished in the massive blaze, while their parents managed to escape and are expected to survive, CBS 2 reported.
"Upon arrival, they saw that both the first and second floor was on fire. There were also information given that there were two people trapped on the second floor. Eventually, they found the victims on the first floor. Unfortunately, the victims, when they were found, succumbed to their injuries and died on scene," West Islip First Assistant Fire Chief Robert Celeste said.
Dilegame played on the local high school football team. Many showed up a the charred remains of the house over the weekend to place flowers in his and his brother's memory.
Celeste said while the cause is under investigation, there is nothing to suspect arson.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries battling the fire.
