Garage Collapses During West Paterson, NJ, Fire

A stubborn fire burned through a two-family home in Woodland Park and, during operations, an adjacent garage collapsed.

One resident and one firefighters were taken to the hospital as fire ripped through a two-story home and collapsed a large masonary garage in Woodland Park, West Paterson Monday.

Video captured by tornadochaser66 captured the collapse of a large, cinder block garage during the firefight.

Crews were called to the two-family home on Marcellus Avenue around 8 a.m., according to News12.com.

Firefighters worked to contain the stubborn fire as it spread throughout the home.

“The fire was too advanced to get up to the second floor,” Assistant West Paterson Fire Chief Andrew Roehrich said.

Multiple fire departments were summoned to the scene as the fire grew.

Officials said the fire is believed to have started outside the home.
