Dec. 8—Roughly 80 to 100 people have been displaced after a fire broke out Sunday morning at an apartment complex in northwest Houston, officials said.

Around 4:18 a.m., firefighters from neighboring agencies — including Klein, Spring, Little York, Champions and Ponderosa fire departments as well as other volunteer fire departments and the Harris County Sheriff's Office — arrived at the Santa Cruz Apartments at 15915 Kuykendahl Road and immediately began battling a major structure fire, said District Chief Dustin Creager with the Klein Fire Department.

The fire had affected 24 units, with roughly 80 to 100 people living in the units, Creager said in a Facebook post.

While no one was injured during the fire, the people living in the apartments were displaced, only able to take the clothes on their backs.

Red Cross has created a temporary shelter and was providing necessities such as blankets.

" Red Cross is working out well with us, making sure that we're giving them the information that they need and also giving them temporary shelter," Creager said.

The Harris County Fire Marshall's Office is investigating the nature of the fire.

This is a developing story. Check back for more updates.
