An early afternoon two-alarmer in Wakefield, Massachusetts on Wednesday, December 17, 2003, killed 16-year-old Peter Sokol.
Firefighters responded to a reported house fire at 28 Old Nahant Road just before 4 PM.
Crews encountered very heavy fire conditions coming out of the fist floor of a single-story ranch home.
First due companies were notified on a possible trapped occupant in the living room section of the home. Firefighters made a valiant search and rescue effort, but due to the extreme conditions from the room being fully involved they were unable to rescue the teenager.
Fire officials were conducting an investigation in to the cause of the blaze.
