N.C. Crews Respond to Structure Fire

Firefighters from Crower’s Mountain Volunteer Fire & Rescue, Union Road Volunteer Fire Department, and the City of Gastonia Fire Department battled a structure fire Monday afternoon in Gaston County, North Carolina. At 4:22 p.m.

At 4:22 p.m. on March 1, Crowder’s Mountain Volunteer Fire & Rescue, and Union Road Volunteer Fire Department received a dispatch of a reported structure fire at 314 Queens Roads in Gaston County.

Engine 513 from Union Road Fire Department and Engine 550 from Crowder’s Mountain were first on the scene, and witnessed a single story structure with smoke visible from the backside of the structure.

Craig Huffstetler, Assistant Chief at Union Road Fire Department led a group of firefighters to battle the blaze through the front door of the structure, but conditions were too severe for firefighters to safely enter.

Crews from all three departments then entered the house from the side, and battled the blaze until the fire was under control in about 30 minutes.

At the time of the fire, the structure was vacant.

No firefighters or civilians were injured on the call.

The structure sustained substantial damage, and is a total loss.

Gaston County Fire Investigations Task Force is investigating the cause of the fire.
