Jaffrey, New Hampshire Firefighters Extricate One From Car, Backhoe Accident

On October 25, 2004 at 1627 hours Jaffrey Fire, Rescue, and Ambulance personnel were alerted to a motor vehicle accident involving a backhoe and a sport utility vehicle on Main Street.

On October 25, 2004 at 1627 hours Jaffrey Fire, Rescue, and Ambulance personnel were alerted to a motor vehicle accident involving a backhoe and a sport utility vehicle on Main Street.

Upon arrival, Jaffrey Captain Keith Dupuis reported a single vehicle head-on into a backhoe with serious injuries and heavy entrapment. He requested a second set of Jaws mutual aid from the Peterborough Fire/Rescue Department.

Both sets of jaws operated for approximately 30 minutes to free the trapped driver, who was then transported to UMass Medical center in Worcester, MA by Life Flight helicopter.

Units remained on scene for approximately 2 hours doing accident reconstruction. The New Ipswich Fire Department assisted on scene with traffic control during the incident.
