Lutz pulled an attack line off Engine 24 and laid it to the front door.
Lambert and firefighter Rob Goss entered through the front door of the structure trying to push the fire out the back of the house. The fire was already in the attic which forced the firefighters out.
Chief David Boren told all firefighters to make a defensive attack.
Firefighters were on the scene for about three hours. The fire department used two engines, 5,000 gallons of water and four gallons of Class A foam to extinguish the blaze. Farmington also utilized 13 firefighters in the effort to save the home.
