Lightning Sparks Maryland House Fire

A lightning storm passed through the area just after 2am this morning. At 2:30am units were dispatched to the 6200 block of Darnells Grove Lane in Glenn Dale.

A lightning storm passed through the area just after 2am this morning. At 2:30am units were dispatched to the 6200 block of Darnells Grove Lane in Glenn Dale. Units dispatched were Glenn Dale (18), Bowie (19/39), Lanham (28/48) and Kentland (33).

Units arrived on the scene with fire showing from the garage area and extension into the 2nd floor. Several attack lines were advanced to the second floor and garage.

The fire had extended into the attic area which made lots of work for the interior crews. The fire was brought under control in just under 30 minutes and units remained on the scene for over 3 hours.

No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation. Volunteer Chief 18 had Command and Volunteer Chief 33 had division 2.
