N.J. Warehouse Fire Extinguished

On March 6. at 12:30, a building fire was dispatched at Broadway and Kaighns Ave in Camden City.

Battalion 1 found a two-story building with heavy smoke throughout.

Due to prior walk throughs, crews set up for defensive operations.

Water supplies were established as the truck companies set up for master stream operations.

Command struck the second alarm to bring in the rest of the city engine companies and a mutual aid truck company from Collingswood. An additional truck company from Cherry Hill and engine company from Gloucester City were also dispatched.

Crews went into operation with four ladder pipes and multiple 2 ½” hand lines to surround the vacant building.

Crews remained in defensive operations for an extended period of time with heavy fire and smoke conditions throughout the building.

Command also reported partial collapses of the building. The fire was knocked, and placed under control with no injuries to firefighters.

The building was a vacant plumbing warehouse
