Ocala Crews Extinguish Fire on Interstate

May 1, 2012

Ocala firefighters responded to a tractor trailer fire on Interstate 75 near mile marker 448 on April 29.

The driver told fire officials that he noticed smoke from the trailer and pulled over to the side of the interstate. He attempted to use his fire extinguisher however the flames were too large and he called 911.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze in the 2007 Kenworth tractor, but it also ignited a small grass fire.

The tractor, valued at $70,000, was separated from the trailer in an attempt to control the fire, although both were damaged.
