Marines Hold Aircraft Drill in Hawaii

Nov. 19, 2012

Marine Corps firefighters conducted two aircraft mishap drills near Marine Corp Air Station Kaneohe Bay in Hawaii on Nov. 14.

One drill was held at sea and these photos shows the land-based drill held at military base. Marines, sailors and firefighters had to rescue "victims," salvage the aircraft and contain fire scenarios.

Personnel from the Marine Aircraft Group 24, MCAS, Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463, Water Front Operations, and the Federal Fire Department were some of the agencies who participated in the drill.

The intent of the drill was to highlight mishap and rescue procedures and communications between participating units.
