St. Paul firefighters plucked cats and dogs from a smoky dwelling fire on Sept. 28.
When crews arrived at a reported stove fire late in the morning, heavy smoke was showing from the large 2 1/2-story home.
Firefighters from Ladder 20, Squad 2 and Engine 23 deployed pre-connected hoslines into the structure to battle the fire and check for extension.
As firefighters were opening up the structure and performing searches, they pulled over a half dozen pets, including cats and dogs, from the fire.
They were brought out to the occupants who were standing across the street.
One resident of the home suffered injuries in the fire and was transported by medics to the hospital.
Firefighters had the fire under control in 10 minutes.
