Flames burned through a vacant church in Topeka on Sunday morning.
The Topeka Fire Department responded to 1600 SW Harrison Avenue at approximately 8:00 a.m.
Heavy smoke coming from the windows of the structure when fire units arrived. Upon investigation, it was revealed that fire was throughout all parts of the structure, leading to a defensive attack.
A second alarm was called bringing three more engine companies, a truck company, an additional aerial apparatus, and one battalion chief.
The Topeka Fire Department's investigation unit it working to determine the cause of the fire.
