A woman was seriously injured in the wake of a two-alarm fire in Grand Prairie on Feb. 12.
Grand Prairie Fire Chief Robert Fite said the call came in just before 7 p.m. He said initial reports indicated a 12 year-old resident was outside the structure and a woman possibly trapped inside.
Chief Fite said the first crews on the scene found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house, bystanders screaming that a woman was trapped inside.
Firefighters from Engine 5 searched through the heavy smoke and flames to find a female victim and remove her from the burning structure.
Paramedics began advanced life support treatment on the victim who was unconscious and had no pulse. She was transported to Arlington MCA hospital.
Chief Fite said medical personnel at the hospital managed to restore a pulse, but the victim is in serious condition.
It took about 25 firefighters nearly an hour to control the fire that heavily damaged the home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
