A battalion chief for the South Metro Fire Department was injured in a car crash while responding to a fire in Englewood Saturday morning.
The crash happened at S. Logan Street and E. Jefferson Avenue. The battalion chief was taken to a hospital for treatment. He was released later Saturday morning, said a South Metro Fire spokesman.
Two other people in the other vehicle were taken to the hospital as well. Their conditions were not released.
The chief was racing from a duplex fire at 2878 South Sherman Street. Firefighters got the call at about 4 a.m. at the duplex.
Initially it was reported that someone was still in the basement, but they were found safe shortly after.
Thirty-two firefighters responded to the blaze. No other injuries were reported.
