Suspicious Bottle Found at Calif. School

SAN DIEGO -- Authorities investigated an incident involving a suspicious bottle tossed onto a basketball court at a Poway school. According to Maurice Luque of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, the bottle with foil on top was tossed over a fence onto the court at Bernardo Heights Middle School. Several children were playing basketball when the bottle was tossed onto the court. A San Diego Police Department official told 10News the bottle contained a blue liquid and looked like a homemade bomb.

Authorities investigated an incident involving a suspicious bottle tossed onto a basketball court at a Poway school.

According to Maurice Luque of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, the bottle with foil on top was tossed over a fence onto the court at Bernardo Heights Middle School. Several children were playing basketball when the bottle was tossed onto the court.

A San Diego Police Department official told 10News the bottle contained a blue liquid and looked like a homemade bomb.

Poway Unified School District officials said school is out for the summer and school officials were also looking into the incident.

A hazardous materials team and police bomb squad unit responded to the incident and disposed of the bottle.

No injuries were reported.
