Boston firefighters used an aerial ladder to conduct the high-angle rescue from a construction site at the Hope Central Church.

Firefighters rescued a construction worker who fell from a church steeple in Boston early Saturday, according to authorities.

The man was working a construction job around 8:30 a.m. Saturday when he fell roughly 20 feet from the top of the steeple of the church at 85 Seaverns Ave. in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of the city, the Boston Fire Department said in a post to X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter.

The department led a “high angle rescue,” according to the department’s post. Firefighters were able to remove the man from a height of around 50 feet using a ladder.

The construction worker was safely treated and stabilized, the department said.
