A contractor at a demolition site in Philadelphia’s Brewerytown neighborhood was killed when a portion of the building being worked on collapsed Monday morning, according to WPVI 6ABC.
Another contractor who was hit by the material was able to escape the rubble alone and did not require any medical attention, the television station reported.
A news helicopter video recoded Philadelphia firefighters feverously trying to extricate the worker from the rubble.
Shortly after the man was freed, he was pronounced dead at the scene, the TV station reported.
TV6 reported no firefighters were injured and left the scene because the building remains too unstable.
Officials with licensing and inspection responsibilities have been summoned to the scene to investigate what caused the collapse.
