SC Firefighters Rescue Person Buried Shoulders-Deep in Ditch

Midway Fire Rescue crews needed more than an hour to pull out a person who was trapped in a ditch in the Pawleys Island area Thursday.

Rescue crews saved a person “buried up to (the) shoulders in the Pawleys Island area.

Firefighters went to 67 R.B. Thompson Way around 10:30 a.m. Thursday for a report of a person trapped in a ditch. The victim was conscious and was nearly buried, according to Midway Fire Rescue.

It took crews a little more than an hour to rescue the victim. The person was taken to the hospital.

Nearby Martin Luther King Boulevard was blocked and first-responders asked people to avoid the area.
