MD Crews Rescue Three After Trench Collapse

July 22, 2022
One worker, who was trapped for about an hour before being freed, was flown to a trauma center.

Three construction workers were injured, one seriously, in a Rockville trench collapse Thursday afternoon.

One of the men was trapped more than the others, and it took special operations crews about an hour to perform the extrication, Montgomery County Fire/Rescue Spokesman Pete Piringer tweeted.

The two other workers were freed quickly from the trench estimated to be six feet deep, three feet wide and about 10 feet long, Piringer reported.

The worker was flown by Maryland State Police helicopter to a trauma center for treatment of injuries and heat-related issues.
