Firefighters who responded to rescue a man who had fallen into the Passaic River Wednesday needed rescuing themselves.
The Clifton firefighters' boat flipped over as they tried to rescue a contractor, according to ABC7.
The contractors were on the Dundee Dam clearing trees when one fell from the boat and into the river.
The crew aboard a New Jersey State Police helicopter performed a hoist to rescue he firefighters. But, witnesses said it wasn't easy.
The first rescue appeared to be easier than the second, with gusty winds and strong currents picking up as the operation continued. After a first unsuccessful attempt to rescue the second firefighter, it circled back and he was able to secure him.
There was no information on the contractor who fell from the boat.
