Two Maryland Firefighters Injured Battling Blaze

COLUMBIA, Md. -- Howard County fire crews battled a two-alarm blaze at a condominium complex, and two firefighters were injured battling the fire. The fire broke out at about 10:15 a.m. Friday in the 5600 block of Columbia Road. One of the firefighters suffered a serious hand injury and was taken to Union Memorial Hospital for treatment. The second injured firefighter was treated at the scene. Red Cross workers responded to help those who were displaced.

Howard County fire crews battled a two-alarm blaze at a condominium complex, and two firefighters were injured battling the fire.

The fire broke out at about 10:15 a.m. Friday in the 5600 block of Columbia Road.

One of the firefighters suffered a serious hand injury and was taken to Union Memorial Hospital for treatment. The second injured firefighter was treated at the scene.

Red Cross workers responded to help those who were displaced.

It took about an hour for firefighters to bring the blaze under control. Crews from Prince George's and Montgomery counties assisted Howard County firefighters.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
