Henderson County, TN, Fire Chief Dies after Call

Henderson County Fire Chief Lynn Murphy was found in cardiac arrest after responding to a call and later died in the hospital.

A beloved fire chief in Henderson County, who was found in cardiac arrest after responding to a call, day after being taken to the hospital.

Officials said Fire Chief Lynn Murphy suffered a cardiac arrest within a day of responding to a call. 

Resuscitation efforts were made and Murphy was taken to the hospital where he regained a pulse, WBBJTV.com reports.

Chadd Gilliam, administrative district chief for the fire department, said Murphy sustained a life-ending brain injury during the incident.

Murphy passed away Friday.

"Chief Murphy was a Godly man, a true servant to the Church and his community, a son, a brother, a friend and the best Fire Chief!!  Please pray for his family and his fire family as they navigate this difficult loss," the Henderson County Sheriff's Department shared.
