The condition of a Texas firefighter who was seriously injured rescuing a resident from a burning garage this week has improved, and he's expected to recover, according to his department.
Fort Worth firefighter Brandon McCulloch was part of the response Tuesday to a small fire that broke out at a detached garage, the department stated in a news release. He helped rescue a critically injured female from the flames.

During the rescue, the nine-year veteran of the department suffered a respiratory injury and was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition. Since then, McCulloch's condition has made improvements, and he is expected to make a full recovery.
The female resident suffered burns and respiratory injuries and was airlifted to the hospital. At the time, the resident's injuries were described as critical.
"We continue to keep the injured resident in our thoughts and prayers," the department stated.
Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire, the department added.
