A firefighter was critically injured late Monday during a fire at Pleasanton medical facility.
Officials told KSHB.com that the Linn County Rural firefighter was taking part in suppression efforts at the chiropractor's officer and had to be rescued by fellow firefighters.
Friends told KMBC.com that the firefighter is Josh Haynes, 35. He was flown to a Kansas City hospital for his injuries.
"It touches home for a lot of people," resident Kenny Stark told KMBC. "He grew up in this town and everybody knows him. He's one of the first people I got to know when I first moved to Pleasanton."
The ATF was called in to assist with the investigation of the fire, and officials say foul play is not suspected.
