Fire officials say an Apopka firefighter sustained serious injuries while taking part in actives at a fire station Thursday.
The incident happened at Fire Station 1 when the firefighter was moving a sand trailer that is used for hazardous materials spills, Fire Chief Sean Wylam told ClickOrlando.com.
Wylam called said the firefighter sustained a “significant” work-related injury to his legs and torso while a crew was preparing to move the trailer.
Late Thursday, Wylam told the television station that the firefighter was stable and talking with family.
The television station said investigators were at the scene looking into the incident and used a crane to lift and weight the trailer.
