One of Glendale Capt. Chuck Montgomery's oncology nurses is a woman he saved after a vehicle crash more than 20 years ago.

More than 20 years ago, a Glendale fire captain helped save two people involved in a car crash. Now, one of those survivors is returning the gesture.

One of the oncology nurses, Christy, came up to him and asked his name.

She said Chuck Montgomery -- was one name she would never forget. That's because he and another responder saved her and her mother's life after a serious vehicle crash, abc15 reported.

Montgomery recalled Christy and her mother brought a gift basket to the station as a token of gratitude months after the crash.

He is now the Hall of Fame Museum executive director, and enjoys sharing the history of the fire department.

And, that 16-year-old girl he saved  is helping save his.
