Collapse Injures Four Broussard, LA, Firefighters, One Seriously

One Broussard firefighter suffered serious leg and neck injuries after being trapped when a wall collapsed.

A Broussard fire captain sustained serious injuries after he was caught in the collapse at a house fire.

Firefighters were called to the fire just two hours into the New Year in Milton when the exteior wall collapsed, according to KATC.com.

The collapse trapped Capt. Erik Mannting and Firefighter Nicholas Stancliff, who called for help.

Firefighters worked to rescue the pair and they were transported to Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.

Mannting is listed in serious condition, having suffered neck and leg injuries while Stancliff was treated at the hospital.

Fire Engineer Cole Champagne and Firefighter Juston Chretien were also injured and were treated and released.

“I would like to express my deep appreciation for the efforts of the Milton Fire Department, Youngsville Fire Department, and Lafayette Fire Department on scene to help our injured firefighters,” Fire Chief Bryan Champagne told the television station.
