Midwest City firefighters were thinking outside the box while designing their new training facility -- literally.
The more than 40-foot building is made entirely of shipping containers, KOCO reported.
"They’ve taken this, and they’ve designed it in such a way that we’re able to burn inside of it. We try to dedicate taxpayer dollars to send firefighters out training, but obviously, to send someone out to train costs considerably," Chief Bert Norton told reporters.
Firefighters will be able to practice various skills in the new facility that's been a long time coming.
"We’ve been able to make it look like it’s a hotel entrance to where we have hotel/motel training. So, we’ll be able to train coming up the stairwell onto the balcony. We’ve got the inside that has the garden apartment look to where we can practice maneuvering hose," the chief explained.
