Salt Lake City, UT (May 9, 2022) — The International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) congratulates Brian Tegtmeyer, ENP, on his appointment as the new National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) National 911 Program coordinator. We look forward to working with Brian as we strive to advance 911 across America.
“We are excited about working with Brian in his new role with the NHTSA’s National 911 Program. His broad experience, working his way up from a dispatcher in a single-seat agency to the director of one of the largest consolidated 911 centers in Illinois, will help take the program to a new level,” said Jerry Overton, President of IAED. Overton went on to say, “Brian has been a user and supporter of structured protocols and understands the importance they have in improving outcomes for 911 callers.”
We also would like to thank Katherine (Kate) Elkins for her service as the Interim Coordinator over the past few months. She will be resuming her role as EMS/911 Specialist for the Program, and we look forward to continuing to work with both her and Brian. Katherine served as the Interim coordinator since the retirement of Laurie Flaherty in January. Laurie served in the role since the program was formed in 2005.
