One Dead, Pregnant Woman Critically Hurt in Collision With D.C. Fire Truck

A Washington D.C. Fire & EMS pumper and a compact car collided, killing the driver of the Honda Friday afternoon. A pregnant woman, who was standing on a sidewalk near the crash site, was also struck and critically injured. A firefighter in the truck was also injured.
According to a report broadcast by Fox 5 DC, the fire truck was responding to a report of the smell of smoke. It traveled through an intersection with a green traffic light and it’s response warning lights activated when a gold Honda travelled in front of fire truck, resulting in a T-bone collision.
The driver of the Honda had to be extricated and transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, the television station reported. The pregnant pedestrian was also transported to the hospital where she was listed in critical condition. The television station reported a firefighter also suffered what was described as minor injuries.
A third vehicle, a black compact car, was also somehow involved with the collision and sustained damage, the station reported.
The crash is under investigation by the D.C. police.
