Woman Killed after Crashing into TX Apparatus

Oct. 28, 2020
According to police, a Pflugerville Fire Department apparatus at the scene of an earlier wreck had lights and siren on when a Dodge Dart crashed into it.

Austin police on Tuesday identified the driver killed in a collision with a Pflugerville fire apparatus on Interstate 35 earlier this month as 35-year-old India McKinley.

According to a preliminary investigation by police, McKinley was driving a 2015 Dodge Dart, traveling south in the 12600 block of Interstate 35 near Parmer Lane in North Austin around 2:15 a.m. on Oct. 17, when she collided with the fire truck.

The Pflugerville fire truck, which had its emergency lights activated, had been responding to an earlier crash, police said.

Anyone with more information about this case should call Austin police detectives at 512-974-6935 or submit tips through the police mobile app, Austin PD.

McKinley is the 74th person to die in Austin traffic so far this year, police said. At this time in 2019, police recorded 67 deaths.
