Crash Involving Mifflin County, PA, Fire Tanker Leaves Firefighter Hurt

Mifflin County fire tanker truck collided with another vehicle and a house Sunday afternoon, causing significant injuries to one of the two firefighters inside.

The incident occurred around noon in downtown Lewistown, when the truck from Junction Fire Company was en route to a brush fire in nearby Granville Township, according to a social media post from the fire company.

The truck collided with a passenger car and then hit a nearby residence and a utility pole, the fire company said.

Photos from the scene show the truck resting on its roof, with the utility pole laying on top of it.

One of the firefighters was able to get out on their own, while the other had to be extracted by emergency crews, according to Junction Fire Company. One of them was taken to Hershey Medical Center for treatment.

The occupant of an apartment in the building that was truck told CBS21 that he was getting ready to take a nap when the upside-down truck came crashing through his living room.
