PA 9/11 Chief Undergoes Successful Heart Transplant

Shanksville Volunteer Fire Department Chief Terry Shaffer, who responded to the 9/11 United Flight 93 crash, underwent successful heart transplant surgery on Monday.
Shaffer, who has been waiting for a new heart for the last five months, was placed on a list last year for a heart transplant at UPMC Presbyterian with advanced heart failure.
He has been hospitalized since February with congestive heart failure, according to a report by WTAE.
On Monday, Shaffer underwent a successful transplant. During his recovery, Shaffer will be staying UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
