Branford firefighter Amanda Mark was charged in connection with a 2021 fatal hit-and-run in North Branford.

Branford firefighter Amanda Mark was charged with the death of a Douglas Clark, 52, after a hit-and-run incident that occurred last year.

Mark, 36, of Killingworth, turned herself in Tuesday on an outstanding warrant. She was charged with evasion of responsibility in operation of a motor vehicle resulting in death, the New Haven Register reported.

The crash that took Clark’s life occurred in the morning of Oct. 16, 2021. Police and firefighters who were called to the scene arrived to find Clark in the roadway. Investigators determined a vehicle struck Clark and fled the area.

In June of 2021, Mark was appointed as deputy fire marshal with the Branford Fire Department. Mark's status with the department is unknown at this time.
