Oct. 30—STORM LAKE, Iowa. — A former Storm Lake Volunteer Firefighters Association officer has pleaded not guilty of stealing thousands of dollars from the organization.

Jesus Rojo, 28, of Storm Lake, entered his written plea Thursday in Buena Vista County District Court to two counts of first-degree theft. His trial was scheduled for Jan. 9.

Rojo, who served as secretary/treasurer of the firefighters association from Jan. 3 through July 6, is charged with taking more than $10,000 in association funds and using the money for his personal use.

He was arrested in September.
