Toddlers, Adults Hurt when Wagon Overturns in Chippewa Falls, WI, Orchard

Chippewa Fire District Chief Cory Jeffers declared a mass casualty incident which brought additional resources to assist with the patients.

A fun wagon ride trip to an apple orchard near Chippewa Falls turned into any but for more than two dozen children and adults when the vehicle overturned. 

When some tried to stop the wagon from turning sideways whle going down a hill, it overturned tossing toddlers, chaperones and others. 

Three people suffered life-threatening injuries while five have serious injuries. One was flown to a trauma center by helicopter. Some went by ambulance, others by private vehicles, KSTP. reported. 

Chippewa Fire District Deputy Chief Cory Jeffers said a mass casualty incident was declared and additional resources were dispatched to assist with the incident at the Bushel and a Peck Orchard. 

The children from a pre-K at a nearby church were on the apple-picking field trip when the incident occurred.
