MIAMI --

Fire investigators are at Miami International Airport after two small fires broke out in two separate employee bathrooms on Thursday.

It happened in Concourse E, just behind the food court.

Miami-Dade firefighters were inside the concourse within minutes after smoke detectors and fire alarms went off around 2 a.m.

They first discovered a debris or paper fire burning in a ladies room in a section of the airport that is off limits to the general public. It was quickly extinguished but the heat and smoke persisted. They then found another fire in the mens room. The fires started in an employee area, an area that requires ID and an access card.

"We're going to investigate to see what happened", said MIA spokesman Greg Chin.

Chin said investigators will be looking at which employees were working and had access to the bathrooms when the fires started.

Concourse E never had to be evacuated and flights were not affected.
