A woman and her baby had to be rescued from a house fire Monday.

AKRON, Ohio --

A woman and her baby had to be rescued from a house fire Monday.

The fire broke out at about 5 a.m. on Arlington Street in Akron.

When firefighters arrived, flames had engulfed the first floor.

A 48-year-old mother and her 17-month-old were rescued from the rear window of the second story. The 47-year-old father was able to get out safely.

All three were taken to Akron Children's Hospital. The extent of their injuries was not known.

Investigators are trying to determine how the fire started.
