MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, Wash. --

A fire caused heavy damage to an auto repair business in Mountlake Terrace early Friday.

The Snohomish County Fire District 1 said an alarm company reported the fire around 12:20 a.m. The building is in the 21700 block of 66th Avenue West in a two-story commercial building that houses several businesses.

Flames were coming from an auto repair business on the east end of building when firefighters arrived at the scene, said Leslie Hynes, spokesman for Snohomish County Fire District 1.

Crews from Fire District 1 and Lynnwood responded. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control, Hynes said.

There was heavy fire and water damage in the auto repair business, but firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to the other businesses in the complex, Hynes said.

Fire investigators said the fire appeared to be accidental, but they have yet to determine the exact cause. They estimated the loss at more than $200,000.

No one was inside the building at the time of the fire and there were no injuries reported.
