NORTH PHILADELPHIA --

A five-alarm fire ripped through an old, vacant factory late Wednesday night, and firefighters were still dealing with the tail end of the blaze as the sun came up Thursday.

The North Philadelphia blaze broke out at about 11 p.m., creating a "very dangerous situation" for neighboring residents, fire officials said.

Although firefighters are still taming one last section of the blaze at the huge North Sixth Street and Germantown Avenue structure, no one suffered injury.

Officials said they believe the suspicious blaze started on the second or third floor.

Firefighters feared the building, which used to house a health food distributor, would collapse, so they evacuated several nearby homes. PECO also had to shut down the power to neighboring areas, but it has since been restored to most of the homes.

Police said they are questioning a man who was seen running away from the area after the fire started, but fire officials stressed they have not made any arrests or found a motive.
