Firefighters in Moundsville are working to put out hot spots in a house that caught fire Tuesday morning, destroying the home on Locust Avenue.
Firefighters said a young couple and a baby lived inside the home and were inside when the fire started. Everyone got out safely but the inside of the home is now just charred remains.
The fire chief said it appears the blaze started in the basement but they have to investigate the exact cause.
When we first got here we had problems with the water supply and talking to the first engine crew that was on the scene, said Fire Chief Noel Clarke. The fire had a really good head start on them.
The American Red Cross was on scene to help the family.
