South Metro Fire Rescue crews used a rope to extricate the youth who fell about 30 feet.

Firefighters and technicians rescued a teen who fell about 30 feet into an abandoned missile silo in Arapahoe County Wednesday afternoon.

South Metro Fire Rescue crews reported while two teens and an adult were playing on top of the silo when one fell in, landing in water, 9 News reported.

Rescue personnel used ropes to pull the teen out of the water, explained Brian Willie, a fire department spokesperson.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The silo is on private property.

"These are very dangerous silos that you can be injured in," Willie said. "So we just would really ask that people respect the private property and stay off this land and out of that property."

Sable-Altura Fire Rescue and Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue were involved in the operation.
