One Dead, Two Injured in Baltimore Fire

A 33-year-old woman died in a rowhouse fire, from which two children jumped from a second-story window.

BALTIMORE --

A 33-year-old woman in west Baltimore died in a rowhouse fire, from which two children jumped from a second-story window overnight, fire officials said.

Firefighters responded to the 5 a.m. call in the 1900 block of North Fulton Avenue on Saturday.

Fire officials said the woman, whose identity they did not immediately release, suffered second- and third-degree burns and was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

A passerby tried to catch the children and was cut on his face and treated at the scene for minor injuries. Fire officials said the children were not hurt.

The home sustained heavy fire damage ; the first and second floors are burned out.
