Firefighters Injured in New York Blaze

Eleven firefighters were treated at a local hospital, including one who was seriously hurt.

A fire in a Bronx high-rise left more than two dozen people hurt and forced several residents from their home yesterday evening.

Fire officials say flames broke out in an apartment on the eighth floor of a building on Boston Road in Bronxdale.

Two residents were taken to local hospitals with serious injuries. Nine others were treated for minor injuries. Eleven firefighters were treated at a local hospital, including one who was seriously hurt. An EMS worker was also treated for minor injuries.

The Red Cross says ten families were allowed back into their homes, but one family of five was not able to return to their apartment and stayed with other family members.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
