March 20, 2006
The cause of the fire is unknown.

A fire ignited early Sunday morning at a car business in the York County community of Hallam.

Firefighters were called to Hellam Imports at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday. When they arrived at the scene in the 300 block of West Market Street, the business was up in flames.

Two people in a nearby house were evacuated when their house lost power.

"Our main goal was to protect the houses on both sides of it since it was already fully involved ... we wanted to save the other ones and keep it from spreading," said Phil Smith of the Hellam Township Fire Department.

As of late Sunday morning, there were no reports of injuries.

There was also no immediate word on a cause of the fire, and the extent of the damage was not immediately clear.
